The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception

A Holy Day of Obligation
Monday, December 7

The Vatican office of liturgy and worship informed the US Conference of Catholic Bishops that the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception must be observed as a Holy Day of Obligation this year on December 7.

Since 2000, if the feast fell on a Sunday, the celebration would move to the Monday, but the obligation to attend Mass was lifted. That is no longer the case. We are now obligated to celebrate and attend Mass that day as a Holy Day.

Giving Tree Donations accepted through December 13

It has been our custom for over 40 Christmas seasons to remember the children of the farm workers who harvest our fruits and vegetables. Many of these families live in very depressing and difficult conditions and cannot afford to buy a gift for their children.

If you wish to participate, please take a tag (or tags) from the tree in the narthex, purchase a new gift appropriate for that child, and attach the tag to the gift. Please place UNWRAPPED gifts under the tree in the narthex ONLY during weekend Masses. If you would like to donate gift cards, please place them in the offertory basket during weekend Masses. Put the cards in an envelope labeled “Giving Tree.” Or you may drop the cards off to the parish office in the DuBois Center Mon-Fri 9am-4pm.

Without the generosity of our parishioners, numerous farm worker children would receive no gift at all on Christmas. May God bless you abundantly.

Advent Reconciliation Service

Wednesday, December 16
4pm & 7pm

Advent is a beautiful time to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation, helping us to prepare for the birth of Jesus. Christ came among us to reconcile us to one another and to the Father. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate Christ’s reconciling love.  A number of priests will be available for individual confession.
